Sherry Beaudreau is Clinical Associate Professor (affiliated) at Stanford University School of Medicine in Stanford, CA, USA. She is also a licensed clinical psychologist and Associate Director of a national mental health research postdoctoral fellowship program through the combat Veterans Affairs (VA) Health Care System at the Sierra Pacific Mental Illness Research Education and Clinical Centers (MIRECC) in Palo Alto, CA, USA. The mission of the Sierra Pacific MIRECC includes a commitment and focus on translational research in dementia.
Her clinical and clinical research interests focus primarily on understanding late-life anxiety and cognitive impairment, and interventions aimed at reducing anxiety in older adults particularly in the context of mild memory problems. She is particularly interested in applying her research to improving healthcare for older combat Veterans. She actively publishes and presents her research in psychology and psychiatry journals, and at both national and international professional meetings including American Psychological Association, Gerontological Society of America, and the International College of Geriatric Psychoneuropharmacology (ICGP). She was a recipient of a 2008 ICGP Junior Investigator award. In 2010 she was awarded an Alzheimer’s Association New Investigator Research Grant to examine the impact of anxiety and depressive symptoms on cognitive impairment and decline in older adults.
In addition to her clinical and clinical research interests in aging, Clin Assoc Prof. Beaudreau is actively involved in educational research and development for psychology and medical trainees in aging and mentors psychology graduate students, predoctoral interns, and postdoctoral fellows in their aging research.
