Nationally, the Psychology and Ageing Interest Group is dedicated to furthering clinical knowledge, research agendas, teaching and learning initiatives and public policy relating to older adults in Australia. It acts as a mechanism for psychologists all over Australia to stay linked with colleagues who share similar clinical, teaching and research interests.

The American Geriatrics Society (AGS)

The American Geriatrics Society (AGS) is a not-for-profit organization of over 6,700 health professionals devoted to improving the health, independence and quality of life of all older people. The Society provides leadership to healthcare professionals, policy makers and the public by implementing and advocating for programs in patient care, research, professional and public education, and public policy.

Australian & New Zealand Society for Geriatric Medicine

The Australian and New Zealand Society for Geriatric Medicine is the professional society for geriatricians, other medical practitioners with an interest in medical care of older people and physician trainees specializing in geriatric medicine.

Australian Association of Gerontology

The AAG is Australia's largest multidisciplinary professional association of people who work in, or have an interest in, ageing. Our diverse membership includes health professionals, academics, government representatives, providers and staff of aged care services, policy analysts, support workers, researchers from the social and medical sciences, administrators, voluntary agencies, students, and older people themselves.

International Psychogeriatrics Association

The International Psychogeriatric Association (IPA) is a unique and diverse professional healthcare community promoting better geriatric mental health – across disciplines, across borders, and across geriatric issues. Psychiatrists, Scientists, Neurologists, Geriatricians, Primary Care Physicians, Epidemiologists, Nurses, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, and many other healthcare professionals come to the IPA community from all over the globe to discuss, learn, share, and research information about behavioral and biological aspects of geriatric mental health.

National Ageing Research Institute

The National Ageing Research Institute (NARI) aims to be the centre of excellence in Australia for research into ageing and improving the quality of life and health of older people. NARI conducts research in the community, hospital and residential care settings.

National Institute on Ageing

NIA, one of the 27 Institutes and Centers of NIH, leads a broad scientific effort to understand the nature of aging and to extend the healthy, active years of life. In 1974, Congress granted authority to form NIA to provide leadership in aging research, training, health information dissemination, and other programs relevant to aging and older people. Subsequent amendments to this legislation designated the NIA as the primary Federal agency on Alzheimer’s disease research.

Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) Faculty of Psychiatry of Old Age (FPOA)

The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) is committed to creating better outcomes for mental health in the community. It is the principal organisation providing accreditation and representation for the medical specialty of psychiatry in Australia and New Zealand. The College is responsible for training, examining and awarding the Fellowship of the College qualification to medical practitioners.

Australasian Journal on Ageing is a peer reviewed journal, which publishes original work in any area of gerontology and geriatric medicine. It welcomes international submissions, particularly from authors in the Asia Pacific region.

The Journal of International Psychogeriatrics is a multidisciplinary journal that publishes high quality original research papers in the field of psychogeriatrics

Gerontology

As the ratio of people over sixty-five continues to rise, understanding the basic mechanisms of aging and age-related diseases has become a matter of urgent necessity. 'Gerontology' responds to this need by drawing experimental contributions from diverse medical, biological, behavioural and technological disciplines to provide a primary source of high quality papers covering all aspects of aging in man and animals.

Journals of Gerontology, Series B - Psychological & Social Sciences

The Journals of Gerontology were the first journals on aging published in the United States. The tradition of excellence in these peer-reviewed scientific journals, established in 1946, continues today.

Psychology and Aging

Psychology and Aging publishes original articles on adult development and aging. Such original articles include reports of research that may be applied, biobehavioral, clinical, educational, experimental (laboratory, field, or naturalistic studies), methodological, or psychosocial.

The Gerontologist

The Gerontologist, published since 1961, is a bimonthly journal (first issue in February) of The Gerontological Society of America that provides a multidisciplinary perspective on human aging through the publication of research and analysis in gerontology, including social policy, program development, and service delivery.

It reflects and informs the broad community of disciplines and professions involved in understanding the aging process and providing service to older people.

American Psychological Association, Division 20- Adult Development and Ageing

The American Psychological Association as we know it today is structured as a collection of special interest divisions containing 19 charter divisions. Division 20, was the first expansion division of APA, the Division of the Psychology of Adulthood and Old Age.

Gerontological Society of America

Gerontological Society of America (GSA) are the oldest and largest interdisciplinary organization devoted to research, education, and practice in the field of aging. GSA’s principal mission is to advance the study of aging and disseminate information among scientists, decision makers, and the general public.
