The Alzheimer's Disease Research Unit (ADRU) is a joint initiative between the Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital (RBWH) Geriatric Psychiatry and Geriatric Medicine Services, The RBWH Research Foundation and The University of Queensland. It was established in March 2006 as a result of a generous bequest.

The mission of the ADRU is to improve the quality of life for dementia sufferers and their carers. The aim of the Unit is to develop a strong track record in dementia research that will improve the quality of life of both dementia sufferers and their carers.

The University of Queensland Alzheimer’s Disease Research Unit works collaboratively with AMI on a number of projects relating to Alzheimer’s disease.
